Qualifications:
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or higher in related field
- Experience as an Advisor for DECA or similar CTSO is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
- Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills
- Competency in student management and supervision
- Knowledge of running a school store
Certification(s):
Valid Michigan Standard CTE Certificate or Professional CTE Certificate with a Business Administration or SPECIALIZED MERCHANDISING, SALES, AND MARKETING OPERATIONS (GQ or GX) endorsement of the following CIP Endorsements:
- Marketing, Sales and Service 52.1999
- Business Administration Management and Operations 52.0299
- Finance and Financial Management Services 52.0800
OR
- Be eligible for an Annual Career Authorization with a minimum of 4,000 recent and relevant hours of work experience in any of the above-related fields within in the past ten (10) years.
- Valid Michigan Department of Education Secondary Certificate, endorsed in the Marketing Cluster according to the Office of CTE Education Endorsements (GX, GH, GQ, GM)
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and implement instruction and assessments.
- Use Microsoft Teams to deliver/make instructional resources available to students, if required.
- Responsible for all CTE reporting and funding requirements per Michigan OCTE and Perkins V
- Support and implement district initiatives.
- Collaborate with other CTE programs/instructors.
- Attention to the individual needs of students and development of responsible learners.
- Effective use of instructional strategies, materials, resources, and interventions for all students
- Short- and long-term planning and organization for the benefit of the student
- Standards of behavior that serve as models for students
- Advising/Co-advising a successfully large DECA.
- Incorporate marketing concepts into curriculum, including customer service, inventory control, merchandising, promotion/advertising to help students run a successful school store.
- Work with the CTE Director and Food services to ensure snacks are Smart Snack eligible.
- Train and supervise students in various roles within the school store.
- Work and collaborate with the Marketing Staff Associate.
- Monitor the store’s financial performance, including budgeting, sales tracking, ordering inventory, and financial reporting.
- Foster relationships with local businesses and vendors to support the store’s operations and provide students with real-world business connections.
