Description

Searching for a temporary certified Athletic Trainer.  This will be a 3 month position.

 

Hours include afternoons, evenings, and weekends

 

This position will be hired through a third party vendor, EduStaff

Education / Training

  • Completion of a CAATE approved athletic training education program or educational equivalent:  
  • Post-certification Master's degree in athletic training:  

Work Experience

  • At least one year of related and expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training: required
      • a combination of education and experience:  preferred. 

Certification, Licensure, Registration

  • Board of Certification, Inc. certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC):  
  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer (AT) through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs:  
  • Additional certifications and credentials obtained in health care (i.e. CSCS, PES, FMS, CKTP, EMT, MHSAA Skinfold Assessor):  
  • BLS (AHA or Red Cross) certification:

Other Qualifications

  • Competent clinical and evaluation skills
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, E-mail, web-based applications etc.)
  • Familiarity with FinalForms, and ImPACT preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize delivery of services as needed. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Flexibility in availability and scheduling, sometimes with short notice, required

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Educates the community on topics of wellness and health within the scope of practice of the athletic trainer.

  • Provides independent athletic training services that encompass the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions for athletes during games and practices as determined by the school Athletic Director (AD) for Lake Orion High School.
  • Cofunction with the part-time AT assigned to Lake Orion HS to determine a schedule of athletic training medical coverage per the athletics schedule needs at the discretion of the AD.
  • Collaborates, communicates and cooperates with physicians, coaches, school administration, parents and athletes to provide safe, timely, effective, efficient, and compassionate care.
  • Documents all care provided and patient treatments using FinalForms; an electronic medical record system provided by the school.
  • Complies with requirements for concussion management protocols and return to play policies from Lake Orion Athletics Department and Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA).
  • With appropriate parental consent, administers ImPACT baseline and post-injury computerized neurocognitive exams for all athletes. 
  • Possesses the ability to stay calm, compassionate, friendly, and empathetic to problem solve and prioritize delivery of services in a fast-paced, high stress environment.
  • Maintains verbal, written and electronic communication with team physicians, therapists, patient and family regarding patient care, rehabilitation, treatment and return to sport planning.
  • Follows all written orders from supervising physician pertaining to injury or illness care, or both.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth/development/dynamics of behavior of various age populations and is able to perform treatment of rehabilitation services appropriately.
  • Practices within local, state and national regulations, guidelines, recommendations and professional standards.
