Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech & Language Pathology required
  • Valid State of Michigan SLP licensure/ credentials
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
  • Experience in Pre-K and K-12 educational environments serving students with varied abilities and needs
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports, RTI/ MTSS processes, and Common Core/ Essential Elements learning standards
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local Special Education rules, regulations and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience with the use of PECs and AAC devices
  • Ability to use and analyze student data to develop interventions and monitor student progress
  • Ability to evaluate students based on Michigan Special Education eligibility rules, write evaluation reports, and develop and monitor IEPs
  • MET/ IEP team meeting facilitation skills
  • Understands and uses evidence-based learning and teaching theories, strategies, and approaches
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills
  • Ability to communicate in a highly effective manner, both verbally and in writing

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides speech and language services to students on the caseload
  • Serves as caseload manager for Speech- only students
  • Functions as an effective team member in the MET and IEPT processes
  • Serves as a member of building and special education teams to flexibly meet the needs of students in a Whole Child approach
  • Demonstrates effective skills in evaluating students who manifest one or more of the following communication impairments adversely impacting educational performance:

-Articulation impairment
-Voice impairment
-Fluency impairment
-Inappropriate language functioning for the child’s age in the areas of phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, or  pragmatic use of aural/oral language

-Other duties as assigned.
